14 February 2007 Twenty five people turned out on this Valentine’s Day during half-term, so a good one all things considered. Again there were some new faces amongst the 729 stalwarts including Stephen Bean, who soon can be seen pitching his business “Teddy Tennis” on BBC’s “The Dragon’s Den” – keep an eye out for him. Our guest speaker was Sam Weller who told us about how businesses can tackle the upcoming workplace smoking ban in a natural, cost effective way and with a much greater chance of success than patches, gum and drugs – hypnotherapy. Sam is a Senior Certified Hypnotherapist and was trained at the Los Angles Hypnotism Training Institute in 1989, and has Diplomas in Basic Hypnotism, Master Hypnotism and Advanced Hypnotherapy. A member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development he is also Director of Training for the Academy of Clinical & Medical Hypnosis.UK. Sam debunked some of the myths around hypnotherapy (not least its name “hypno” (to sleep.) He explained that it’s a technique for accessing the right-hand side of the brain (whilst in a state of relaxation) to re-programme the sub-conscious to break habits (smoking, weight loss etc.), sharpen performance (sports, business etc.), de-stress and combat phobias. (Look into the eyes, not around the eyes…) Hypnotherapy has many applications and Sam offers to work with his clients over three or more sessions to achieve goals and aspirations (providing he can assess a true desire in the client to do so – payment in advance is often a good indicator!) Sam also sells his services over the internet. Take a look at his site: www.hypnotictracks.com £20 was raised in this month’s Bob Geldof bucket and Sam will be donating this to The Cats Protection League. | |||||
