12 March 2008 Guest Speaker was: Richard Young, Close-Up Magician “Now you see it… now you don’t” 729 Club members were treated to a fantastic display of magic by one of the UK's finest young magicians, Richard Young. Cards disappeared, reappeared in oranges, were torn up and welded back together. Richard told the story of how at the age of 8 Richard was given a magic set for Christmas and so begun an incredible journey. Throughout school Richard Young regularly performed magic in front of his peers and school staff during morning assemblies. This early exposure to a live audience would form a basis for the live acts he would go to perform in later years. Now just 24 and into his 16th year as a magician Richard attributes his sustained interest in magic to his love of it, as well as the personal qualities it provides him with. Richard answered questions about how he operates as a business explaining the importance of word-of-mouth, referrals and the internet.
