Coming from an unusually diverse background in business, David has spent the last two and a half years developing the multi award winning Enterprise Gateway at Faringdon. During that time he has also acted as Chairman of the wider Gateway network, become a director of Prowess, the UK wide advocacy organisation for excellence in women’s business support, and conducted several hundred “Dr Dave” one to one business sessions.

David has worked in a variety of sectors, including Property, Contracting, Construction, Import, Distribution, Logistics and IT. David’s view is that it is failure which teaches us the most and it is important to learn what we can from other people’s mistakes so that we don’t repeat them ourselves.

45 attendees came along to hear David North’s amusing talk “How to Wreck Your Business.” Laughter gave way to furrowed brows as we perhaps recognised some of the traits in ourselves. David gave some good advice about seeking early advice if there are any warning signs. A surprising statistic was that 80% of businesses that fail do so with a full order book! In amongst the frivolity there were some serious messages – not least about the positive impact that the Enterprise Gateway has had on the business community in Faringdon.
